Safer Internet Day Ambassador Programme
Working with young people is a big part of what we do. Our Safer Internet Day Ambassador Programme is a peer-to-peer youth training programme that gives students an opportunity to lead an online safety campaign in their own school or community. Students can be nominated by teachers or sign up themselves.
The Ambassador Programme empowers students by providing them with opportunities to develop leadership, human-relations, team-building and communication skills. Students make a commitment to lead by example, demonstrate respect and responsibility, and engage in community service.
Preparations for Safer Internet Day are in full swing here at Webwise Ireland. On the 15th of January, Webwise hosted the Safer Internet Day Ambassador Training Day in Google HQ. Over 100 students from across Ireland gathered together to learn new skills and activities to help them plan and prepare for running their own internet safety awareness raising campaign in their school, clubs or organisations. The aim is to make Safer Internet Day a success in communities and schools across Ireland.
The Safer Internet Day Ambassador Training Day took place on the 10th of January in Google Headquarters in Dublin. It saw 130 students come together to learn new skills and ideas for running their own internet safety campaign in their school, clubs or organisations.
