Young people, schools and organisations from across Ireland have been recognised in Safer Internet Day Awards 2020.

The awards celebrate the many innovative online safety initiatives to promote a better, safer internet within schools, clubs and local communities. The competition is open to all schools and organisations, and reflects the varied, and creative ways, that young people take positive action to address internet safety topics.

The competition offers young people the opportunity to showcase their work in a range of categories including Best Writing, Best Music, Best Use of Technology, Best Use of Social Media, and Best Overall Campaign.

The entries are peer-led efforts, with young people addressing issues that are important to them. This year the awards attracted a record number of entries with activities that raised awareness of issues including cyberbullying, security and privacy, media literacy, respectful communication, and managing online well-being.

For the first time the awards included the ‘Teacher Award’, which recognises the incredible efforts of teachers to support students to make their Safer Internet Day activities, events, and campaigns a success.

There was a very high standard this year, and the Webwise Team would like to thank all who participated in the Safer Internet Day Awards 2020.
